ICONSIAM is the newest addition to the shopper’s paradise of Bangkok. The 1.5 billion dollar mega-mall sits in a prime place on the riverside in the Klongsan district of Bangkok.

The Mall

The complex dubbed a megacity by its creators is composed of two distinct sections Icon Siam & Icon Luxe. Icon Siam’s theme is traditional Thai heritage & culture from the staff uniforms through to the traditional decor of the Sook Siam zone. There are over 500 shops and 100 restaurants from Michelin star to simple street food.

Icon Luxe

Icon Luxe is the home of luxury brand flagship stores. It features the longest, pillarless glass facade in the world. Icon Luxe features luxury brand shops including Louis Vuitton, Prada, Hermes, Tiffany, Gucci, Dior, Chanel, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Bvlgari, Dolce & Gabbana, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta, Celine, Christian Louboutin, Coach, Fendi, MCM, Saint Laurent, & Versace.

Veranda

On the ground floor in Iconluxe is Veranda. The tastefully designed zone has high-class restaurants, coffee bars, patisseries and sweet shops including an exclusive branch of the famous Jumbo Seafood from Singapore.

Sook Siam

On the ground floor of ICONSIAM beyond the Veranda Zone is Sook Siam. The design brings together Thai arts, culture, traditions, cuisine, and way of life representing all provinces of Thailand. There are over 3000 local businesses from all over Thailand involved. Sook Siam is beautifully designed and decorated depicting the varied distinctive cultures that make up the kingdom of Thailand. More than 200 designers and artists from around the country took part in creating Sook Siam with impressive results.

A beautifully decorated pillar

It features four zones, Central, Southern, Northern & North-Eastern. There is a central square with stages for cultural performances & plays. Each zone features clothes, packaged food & handicraft products from that part of Thailand.

Each zone also offers food stalls selling the regional specialties and street food. There are many sit down areas to eat. The highlight is the floating markets with food prepared and served from traditional small boats on artificial lakes and a canal. There is small stool seating around some of the boats. At the back of Sook Siam is Thonburi Delights features local vendors selling local food specialties & products.

Motor Vehicle Kingdom

Iconsiam has a dedicated Motor Vehicle Kingdom featuring luxury car & motorbike brands, Rolls Royce, Maserati, Porsche, BMW, and Mini. Alive Space on the 3rd & 4th floors features Toyota cars and uniquely presents its cars using VR technology giving customers the experience of driving the car through a VR headset.

IconSiam Restaurants & Cafes

Siam Takashimaya has three exclusively Japanese food zones. On the fourth floor is Rose Dining featuring high-end Japanese restaurants in a passageway setting. On the ground floor is a food court with a variety of outlets serving up popular Japanese favorites. The upper ground floor has a delicatessen area with exclusive cafe’s, bakeries & sweet shops from Japan.

The sixth-floor features Alangkarn, a large dining zone containing cafe’s, and Thai, Chinese, Japanese, Indian & French restaurants. The zone concept is a “rice” theme featuring decor influenced by Thai agriculture. There is a Sky view zone & a terrace bar overlooking the river.

Entertainment

A 14 screen cinema, Iconcineconic has just opened on the 6th floor. It includes an Imax cinema, A VIP cinema, a special kids cinema, and a living room style cinema. Tickets for standard screens are 120 to 450 baht depending on theatre & class of seat. Tickets for the IMAX are 500 – 1300 baht.

Coming Soon

At present, the mall is incomplete with floors 7 & 8 still to open. The 7th floor will house the True Icon Hall a 3000 seat event, conference and performance venue. It’s due to open in July 2019.

The River Museum will open on the 8th floor in July 2019. It will display historical artifacts, local inventions & rare art from Thailand as well as international exhibitions.

Gardens

In front of Icon at the riverside is the River Park. It has a green area with seating and great views of the river. It’s also an event space and features a dancing fountain, the longest in the ASEAN region. On the 3rd floor is a terrace garden with great views of the river, seating and a few sculptures.

Floating Museum

On the river is an old Chinese Junk, the Srimahasamut (the glory of the sea) which is a floating museum featuring an exhibition on the ship and Thonburi’s history as an international shipping port. The museum details life as a ship hand, and the kind of products traded, shipping routes, the history of King Taksin the Great and how as King he oversaw Siam’s development and expansion as a trading nation.

The ship itself features original & replica decor and equipment of the era. The tour starts with a short video presentation before proceeding through a tour of the ship’s rooms to view the exhibitions which use multimedia displays. The main deck also features a restaurant and coffee shop serving traditional Thai food and beverages.

Tours are free and leave from the information desk near Jumbo seafood. You must register and receive a pass first. Tours start at 11.40 and run every 20 minutes until 19.40. The tour takes 35 minutes. The museum is open for a limited time until the 13th of January.

Tourists can get a free Tourist Discount Card on the production of your passport. It entitles you to discounts of between 5 & 30% at participating outlets as well as a 6% VAT refund. Ask in the store for the discount rate.

ICONSIAM Gift Card

The IconSiam Gift Card is a prepaid electronic shopping card valid at all outlets. You can fill it up with credit (least 1000 baht, most 50,000 baht) and refill it when you need to. It’s valid for 5 years and can also be used at Siam Paragon, Siam Center and Siam Discovery. Purchase of 5000 baht will get you a free 500 baht. Purchases over 5000 baht will get you a 10% discount on your first purchase. The card can also entitle you to special discounts and free gifts during promotions.

ICONSIAM Tourist Center

The Tourist Card & Gift Card can be obtained from the customer service desk opposite 7-11 on the ground floor. There is a tourist center on the fourth floor of Takashimaya offering baggage storage, tourist information, baby carts, and wheelchairs. Free WiFi is available. Access is for two hours. You will need to get a password from the information counter on the ground floor. Photography is permitted, good areas for taking photos have golden circular icons throughout the mall.

Free Shuttle Boats run from the following piers –

Sathorn Pier (Saphan Taksin BTS exit 2), Cat Building Pier, Si Phraya Pier, Ratchawong Pier (Chinatown).

09.00-23.00 every 10 minutes.

Boat to Sathon departs Icon Siam from pier 1.

Other boats depart Icon from pier 4.

Chao Phraya Tourist Boat (Blue Flag) 09.30 – 21.30 daily. 60 Baht.

Chao Phraya express boats depart from Pier 1.

Free Hotel Shuttle Boats run from Royal Orchid Sheraton, Mandarin Oriental, Chatrium Riverside, The Peninsula, Ramada Plaza Hotels. Check with hotels for times. Boats depart Icon from pier 4.

Free Shuttle Bus:  Icon Siam to Krung Thonburi BTS (exit 5 ground floor) 08.00 – 24.00. Every 15 minutes.

Icon Siam to Wongwian Yai Bts (exit 7 ground floor) 08.00 – 24.00. Every 30 minutes.
