The One Ratchada
The One Ratchada is a night market located on the site of the old train night market. It is easily accessible being less than 100 meters from MRT Thailand Cultural Centre station. The market is divided into three sections, food shopping, and bars. The One Ratchada is conveniently located behind Esplanade Mall which has shopping, more food options, and clean toilets.
The market is less crowded than nearby Jodd Fairs and is easy to walk around. It is easy to get a seat to relax, eat or drink. The One is not as popular as the old train market with the result that only about half of the stalls are open.
The Food
The food choices and prices are similar to what you will find at Jodd Fairs. There is a mixture of restaurants with seating and takeaways. A seating area with big tables is near the market entrance for picnicking with your takeaway food. There is a good selection of food including fresh seafood, meat mountains, pizza, pasta, takoyaki, BBQ skewers, sushi, noodles, pad thai, fresh fruit, Ice cream, and more. A cannabis shop is just inside the market entrance and you are free to smoke inside the market.
The Bars
One section of the market is given over to large bars that were left over from the old train market. They also offer food and live music. The restaurants and some stalls in the market also sell alcohol.
The Shopping
The shopping consists of stalls selling street-style fashion, shoes, T-shirts, Elephant trousers, small gifts, souvenirs, bags, and more. There are also several nail salons and massage shops.
What is the best time to go to The One Ratchada?
Anytime is a good time to visit as it is not crowded. The market opens at 16.00 and closes at 24.00 daily. There is live music in the bars from around 20.00. The Esplanade Mall is open until 22.00.
